DES faculty members graduate with master’s degree

Felix, Maricris, and Christian finished their research at the Advanced Ceramics Laboratory under the guidance of their adviser Dr. Rinlee Butch Cervera while Gianina did her experiments at the Composite Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Leslie Joy Diaz. Both Felix and Christian’s research focused on the development of electrode materials for solid oxide electrolysis cells. Felix’s research was entitled Synthesis and Characterization of NiO/YSZ Composite Cathode Material for Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell while Christian’s research was entitled Investigation of LSM/YSZ Composite Electrode as Anode Material for Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell (SOEC). Maricris’ study, on the other hand, was geared towards the development of anodes for Lithium-Ion Batteries entitled Electrochemical Investigation of Amorphous Silica-Based Anode Materials for Lithium Batteries. Gianina’s research focused on development of composites for wastewater treatment entitled Fabrication of Montmorillonite/polycaprolactone Membrane via Electrospinning Method.

They have returned to service at the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) and are currently teaching general engineering courses at the Department, inspiring students with their new found knowledge and deeper understanding of the sciences.
